Tolu Bankole, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress National Working Committee, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his strategic appointment of Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. This move is expected to bring about positive change and effective leadership in addressing humanitarian issues and poverty alleviation in Nigeria.
It's worth noting that Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda's appointment comes after the suspension of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Betta Edu, who was removed from office due to allegations of financial misconduct. President Tinubu's swift action in suspending Dr. Edu demonstrates his commitment to transparency and accountability within his administration.
As Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Yilwatda will play a crucial role in developing and implementing policies that cater to the needs of vulnerable populations and promote socio-economic development in Nigeria. With President Tinubu's vision and Dr. Yilwatda's expertise, Nigerians can expect significant progress in addressing humanitarian challenges and reducing poverty.

I have more money than 90% of people I looked up to” – Burna Boy Award-winning Afrobeats artist Burna Boy reflects on his path to success, expressing pride in his achievements and explaining why he never looks down on others. In an Instagram Story, the Nigerian musician shared a poignant message about his journey to wealth, mentioning that during his childhood, wealth was mainly associated with politicians, oil tycoons, and so-called "Yahoo boys," or fraudsters.
Burna Boy, who started from humble beginnings in Port Harcourt, noted how things have changed, revealing that he now has more money than 90% of those he once admired as successful earners. In sharing this transformation, he aimed to inspire his fans, encouraging them not to underestimate anyone's potential. “Imagine growing up when only politicians and oil men were the ones truly making REAL money, followed by the G boys. Music wasn’t even part of the conversation when it came to money.
“Now, an unattractive black musician from Port Harcourt has more money than 90% of the people he once looked up to as moneymakers. This is why I never count any of you out, because you could be the next Elon Musk tomorrow, writing this same message,” he stated
Appointing Bianca Ojukwu Won’t Deliver Southeast Votes to APC” Akinniyi Mocks Tinubu PDP chieftain Dare Glintstone Akinniyi has weighed in on the recent appointment of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu to President Tinubu’s cabinet.
In an interview, Akinniyi argued that the appointment is politically motivated but won’t necessarily secure southeast votes for the ruling APC in the 2027 elections. He noted that despite Bianca Ojukwu’s influence as the wife of the late Biafran leader Chief Ojukwu, her role is unlikely to sway the region in favor of the APC.
He said, "Their selection appears to be a tactical move to placate influential quarters in the lead-up to 2027, favouring political pragmatism over proficiency. Appointing the wife of Chief Ojukwu won't deliver the SE votes to the APC. "President Tinubu appointed two former Ministers under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, which makes the new appointments a mere joke to me. It's clear that Bola Tinubu led APC government is confused and incompetent."

Obasanjo Finally Speaks on Third Term Ambition! Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has broken his silence, stating that he never had ambitions for a third term in office.
Obasanjo revealed that certain governors were the ones pushing the agenda to extend their own time in power. However, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Senate President Ken Nnamani have both claimed to have played key roles in stopping Obasanjo’s alleged third-term bid but the former president’s claim is contrary.
Obasanjo said, "If I had wanted a third term, I would have gotten it. I didn't want a third term. I know some governors working for this, believing that if I, as president, got a third, they would also get it.” What do you think? In a speech on Friday, former President Goodluck Jonathan reflected on his defeat in the 2015 presidential election, describing it as one of the toughest moments of his political career.
He recounted the overwhelming emotions he experienced upon hearing the election results, feeling as though the entire world had turned against him. These thoughts were shared during the inaugural Raymond Dokpesi Annual Diamond Lecture, hosted by Daar Communications in partnership with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
Jonathan, representing the Peoples Democratic Party, lost to Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 15,424,921 votes compared to Jonathan's 12,853,162. This election was notable as it was the first time in Nigeria's history that an incumbent president was defeated in a re-election attempt.
With a smile, Jonathan spoke about the profound emotional turmoil he endured during that time, admitting that the pain was hard to express. He also recognized the support he received from Raymond Dokpesi, the Chairman of Daar Communications, before he transferred power to Buhari.
The former President remarked, "It is not easy to lose an election as a president. You feel like the whole world is against you. But then, Dokpesi invited me before I handed over. I remember what he said to me when I lost the election."
Jonathan noted that many senior statesmen reached out to him during that challenging period, but it was Dokpesi's congratulatory message and encouragement to move forward that resonated with him the most
“A Nigerian president came to office without a plan” – Obasanjo Fires Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has linked Nigeria's current challenges to a global lack of effective leadership, particularly evident in Africa and especially in Nigeria. In an exclusive interview with Kayode Akintemi on News Central Television on Thursday, Obasanjo pointed out that the absence of strategic planning among some Nigerian leaders is a significant issue.
He criticized an unnamed Nigerian president for assuming office without a clear plan, emphasizing that policies are frequently announced without adequate research or preparation, which he considers indicative of poor leadership. Obasanjo remarked, “At this moment, there is a general deficit of leadership worldwide. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be in the situation we find ourselves. Unfortunately, in Africa, and specifically in Nigeria, we often take two steps forward, one sideways, and then two or three steps back. This approach won’t lead us anywhere. We need to focus on leadership.
What can be said about a Nigerian president who took office without a plan? He simply declared a ‘three-point plan.’ What are those three points? What do they aim to achieve? Who has worked on it? It’s concerning when someone just makes a statement without any prior study. “Let me provide an example: when I was the military Head of State, we made a commitment to actively participate in the frontline states to combat the remnants of colonialism and....
YORUBA PEOPLE ARE BETRAYER'S, WE RISK OUR LIFE AND THIS IS WHAT WE GET.---ASARI DOKUBO THREATENS TO FORM ALLIANCE WITH THE NORTH
Former militant leader Asari Dokubo has shared his perspective on the events surrounding the 2023 presidential election. He emphasized that the current hardships are affecting everyone, including those who supported the Tinubu administration and those who went above and beyond for it.
Dokubo, a strong supporter of Tinubu during the election, expressed his disappointment over what he perceives as betrayal by the Yorubas towards the Ijaws and Niger Deltans, despite their significant support for President Bola Tinubu. In a widely circulated video, he apologized to former Rivers State Governor Melford Okilo and other regional leaders for questioning their collaboration with the North.
Regarding the tensions between the Ijaws and Yorubas, Dokubo declared that the Ijaws and Niger Deltans would no longer collaborate with the Yorubas, labeling them as betrayers. He pledged that the Niger Delta people would now seek to align themselves with the northerners. "From today, I will actively work to form an alliance with the North and eliminate any opposition, as those who despise us do not value us. Whatever actions the Ijaw people take mean nothing to them.
"We will spread the message across Ijaw territory that only northerners can work with the Ijaw people! We cannot collaborate with the Yoruba; they are betrayers! We risked our lives, voted, and did everything, and this is the outcome we receive?"
