A Nigerian woman has gained widespread attention after recommending that engineers working on the national power grid attach a sticker from a specific church to help restore its functionality.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she proposed that the engineers find a sticker from the chosen church and stick it to the damaged power grid to enable it to provide electricity.

She remarked, "So, out of all the engineers at the National Grid, not a single person could put a Chosen sticker on that thing???"

Her comment came in light of reports that the national power grid had collapsed twice within the previous 24 hours.

The post quickly went viral, with many users flooding the comments section to express their opinions.

Floods Take Over Sahara Desert For First Time In Decades After Heavy Rainfalls - Travel - Nairaland Intense rainfall in the Sahara Desert has resulted in the formation of large lakes among the sand dunes, significantly transforming the previously barren landscape.

This region, typically characterized by dry conditions, experienced flooding for the first time in decades following heavy rains in southeast Morocco in September, according to CNN.

NASA's data indicated that some areas received nearly 8 inches of rain, turning parts of the desert into a vast body of water. The desert city of Errachidia recorded nearly 3 inches of rain, which is four times the area's average monthly rainfall. Houssine Youabeb from Morocco’s meteorological agency remarked, “It’s been 30 to 50 years since we’ve seen this much rain in such a brief period.”

Merzouga experienced the most significant transformations, with new lakes forming in the sand dunes, and the reflections of palm trees now visible in the newly created lagoons. Additionally, Iriqui National Park saw its dry lakes filled due to the heavy rainfall.

While much of the precipitation occurred in remote regions, some towns and villages were impacted, resulting in deadly floods that claimed over a dozen lives last month. Satellite imagery revealed large sections of the northwest Sahara covered in greenery, a rare occurrence in the world’s largest non-polar desert.

Experts attribute this unusual rainfall to climate change, cautioning that as global temperatures rise due to fossil fuel emissions, the Sahara may experience more extreme weather events.

These floods serve as a clear illustration of how human activities can disrupt natural cycles, with increased rainstorms potentially reshaping the desert environment.

Additionally, the court has mandated VeryDarkMan to pay a significant amount of N500 million to Femi Falana and his son as compensation for libel, as outlined in the pre-action documents of the ruling.

This decision is part of a legal response to the allegations made by Otse, which were considered damaging to the reputations of both Falana and his son.

Justice M. O. Idowu delivered the judgment in case number ID/8584/GCM/2024 on Tuesday.

He noted that the posts made by VeryDarkMan on his social media accounts on September 24, 2024, which connected Bobrisky to Falz and his father, were defamatory and harmful to their public image.

Dawodu stated, “The applicants (Falz and Falana) assert that the defendant (VeryDarkMan) was aware that these statements (regarding Bobrisky) were false but chose to publish them anyway to damage their reputation. “Moreover, the defamatory statements continue to circulate on the defendant’s various online platforms, perpetuating the harm to their reputation as long as the content remains accessible online.”
